As with most of us who’ve been on this planet for a while, my story is kind of long and tedius, and I’ll no doubt write about my ‘so far’ journey as time goes on. But here’s the short version so you can get a bit of a picture…
At the time of creating this blog (in 2022) I’m a late 50’s post menopausal Grandma who has struggled with weight and body image all her life.
I’m mostly healthy, take no pharmaceuticals and I want to keep it that way as I head into my sixties and beyond.
But aside from being overweight, I’ve realised that my blood glucose is sneaking up a little, and that I’m probably pre-diabetic or close to it. So I decided to get stuck in and get back to putting some focus on my weight and my health.
I’ve been ‘playing’ with intermittent fasting for the last couple of years with some very slow results. In fact with very little commitment and regular ‘cheat days’, I’m down about 12 kilos from where I started.
However I’m still quite overweight, and judging by my blood glucose levels, my mostly clean but carb filled diet obviously isn’t what my body needs.
I’ve also played around with the keto diet for short periods a couple of times with limited results. I struggled to get my body into ketosis and I wasn’t getting the results I thought I should, so my impatience got the better of me and I gave up!
This is the first time I’ve actually combined both IF and Keto, plus I’ve also gained new understanding about the importance of understanding blood sugar AND hormones!
